Official Dragon Ball Site Releases All Of Android 17’s Secrets!
Hey guys! How’s it going on?! I know Dragon Ball Super anime ended last week and we don’t have a new episode to look forward to tonight. Well it’s alright, we all know that Dragon Ball Super is gonna come back soon enough. We all are thinking that it will come back in 2019, I don’t know, it can be sooner or maybe a bit later too.
Well, as it hit April 1st in Japan, “In recognition of Android 17’s great efforts in the Tournament of Power, from this day forward the Dragon Ball Official Site shall be reborn as the Android 17 Official Site”. This is a April Fool’s joke the official Dragon Ball site is playing for the day and is actually kinda funny. The site is talking about Android 17 only.
Well, keeping jokes aside, one key article was posted on the official Dragon Ball website regarding Android 17. It’s an interview with Dr. Gero. They have staged it in such a way where the questions about Android 17’s secret is answered by Dr. Gero himself. That’s some good thinking actually and pretty funny too.
The article contains this header in the starting – Android 17 shined as MVP during Dragon Ball Super’s Universe Survival arc. What is the secret to his strength… ?! After that the interview with Dr. Gero starts and it tells many different things about Android 17. Well, enough chit chat, Dr. Gero’s interview goes as follows!
How was No. 17 made? – Gero: “No. 17 was a ‘human base’ android like me, Android 20. Instead of being created from scratch like a purely artificial android, he was created by modifying a human.” So Android 17 is a human based android. This would shut up the people who kept on saying that No. 17 is a cyborg and not an android.
What characterizes “human base” androids? – Gero: “Since they’re basically humans, they can grow stronger by training. It seems that the modification slows the deterioration of their cells, so they age slowly.” Okay, so Android 17 and 18 are not immortal like Master Roshi, they will age surely but slowly and one day die of natural cause.
Why did you select 17 as android material? – Gero: “During my Red Ribbon Army days I made Android 8, but he was too gentle and unsuited for battle. That gave me the idea of taking people who were already evil and turning them into androids. While I was out looking for fresh material for my experiments, I happened to run across 17 and 18, who were notorious delinquents.
Back then their names were.. let’s see.. ‘Lapis’ and ‘Lazuli’, I believe. I kidnapped and modified them against their will, which I suppose is why they were always so rebellious.” Tell us the secret of 17’s strength! – Gero: “When creating 17, the majority of his functions were geared toward tremendous power.
In the testing stages I realizes how dangerous his power was, and created his emergency deactivation device. What’s more, since he’s an ‘eternal type’ equipped with an eternal energy reactor, he can continue fighting without running out of energy… However, since I was too fixated on his strength, I failed to control his personality. And so he ended up ignoring my orders.”
Did 17 and 18 undergo the same modifications? – Gero: “Since I focused too much on 17’s power and he wouldn’t listen to orders, I made 18 with her power more restrained than 17’s. Although in the end she didn’t listen to my orders either…” Hahahahaha Gero: “What’s so funny?” (Dr. Gero is really one of a kind genius though).
M-My apologies. What do you think about the fact that 17 has so many fans…?! – Gero: “17 has fans? … But I’m the one who made him. Hmph, this displeases me. I’m leaving!!” Oh.. He left. This was one pretty amusing interview and we got to know some pretty new details about the androids. Well, we still don’t know about Android 17’s family.
